Supporting Children's Wellbeing
The Wellbeing of our children.
We model how to interact positively for our children to grow and develop. Our open culture allows all voices to be heard, and we aim to provide a safe, supportive, secure environment for all.
We aim to listen to the voices and values of our school community and, through our inclusive and respectful practices we aim to support all families.
We strive to develop a sense of belonging; to the whole team, to smaller groups and to each other. We encourage self-expression and acceptance for all.
We aim to:
1) Listen2) Respect all
3) Guide
4) Be non-judgemental
5) Make a difference in the lives of the children we care for.
At Boundstone Nursery School, we take a whole school approach to promoting positive mental health, aiming to help children become more resilient, happy and successful and work in a pro-active way to avoid problems arising.
We do this by:
Creating and applying consistent ethos, policies and behaviours that support mental health and well-being.Adhering to a positive, restorative approach to behaviour management.
Helping children socially to form and maintain relationships.
Helping children to feel comfortable about sharing any concerns or worries.
Teaching children emotional skills and an awareness of mental health, so that they understand their emotions and feelings better. We do this through the Emotion wheels, Our Mindfulness sessions and Persona Dolls during group time sessions.
Promoting self-esteem and ensuring children understand their importance in the world.
Helping children to be resilient learners and to manage setbacks.
Supporting and training staff to develop their skills and their own resilience.Developing an open culture where it’s normal to talk about mental health.
